My husband, Alex, and I in Monterey, CA USA

Welcome to iwíga Well-Being & Resilience.
A space for well-being, resilience, and personal development grounded in honest human growth.

This is a quiet space for people carrying more than they can name.

I’m Justin Hurtado, PhD,  a Well-Being and Resilience Specialist who walks with adults navigating identity shifts, grief, chronic illness, cross-cultural life, and the slow work of becoming themselves. My background is in psychology, human development, life coaching, and years of lived experience sitting with people in the raw and uncertain seasons of life.

I live with a chronic disability, so anything I offer happens in a limited, health-paced rhythm.

Some days I can show up, some days I can’t. What I share comes from what I have, when I have it. No performance, no pressure. Just honest presence and grounded conversation.

Some themes people explore with me include:
• major life transitions
• identity shifts and self-understanding
• chronic illness and disability
• grief, loss, and ambiguous endings
• expat, immigrant, and cross-border life
• meaning-making and inner clarity
• values, boundaries, and life direction
• LGBTQ+ belonging and lived experience

What shows up here depends on my health and capacity:
• Well-Being & Resilience conversations, when I’m able
• Reflections and essays from my own becoming
• Occasional blessings or gentle words for the road
• The slow, interior work of making sense of being alive

You won’t find me on social media. Not out of protest, out of self-respect. I try to live at the speed of breath, not the speed of the algorithm.

About capacity

I live with a rare neuromuscular disorder, CIDP. My days vary, and my availability follows my body. Everything I offer is shaped by that truth. This site, and my pace, live inside that rhythm.

Open-handed, without condition

Nothing here is behind a paywall; nothing is withheld.
If something speaks to you, take it. If it helps someone else, pass it on.

I hope this space meets you kindly. I hope it helps you breathe.

You’re welcome here, exactly as you are.
